May 9, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Grants Review Committee wishes to advise community groups that grant applications are now being accepted from non-profit organizations that wish to be considered for grant funding in the 2017 fiscal year.

Application forms are available for download online at http://www.brandon.ca/council-information/committees-and-boards. Organizations may also contact the Grants Review Secretary for more information at 204-729-2296 or emailing cityclerk@brandon.ca.

Applications, along with the required financial documents, must be completed and submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30th, 2016. The City Clerk’s Office is located on the 2nd Floor of Brandon City Hall, 410-9th Street.

Changes to this year’s process include a new provision whereby large capital projects, including major construction such as roof or building repairs or maintenance to parking lots or property, will not be considered for funding. Successful applicants will now also be required to submit a follow-up report and expense list on how funds were allocated no later than April 1st the year after receiving their grant.

Applications will be reviewed in the fall of 2016 by the Grants Review Committee of City Council, with recommended grant funding to be provided for Council approval prior to its 2017 budget deliberations. Approved grant funds will then be issued following final approval of the 2017 Financial Plan.
