The City of Brandon’s Community Services Department wishes to advise the public that it has begun a controlled burn of tree debris in the area of the Wheat City Golf Course and Recreation Centre property.
The debris includes that from recent flood clean-up efforts, along with trees and brush that have been removed in preparation for future dike stabilization in the area.
The department has applied for and received the proper permitting from Brandon Fire and Emergency Services. The fires will be monitored by department staff through the week and will be extinguished if weather or wind conditions become unfavourable. It is anticipated the burning should be completed sometime on Friday, April 1st.
The City of Brandon asks that all members of the public stay away from the area until the controlled burning has been completed. For more information on the process, the public may contact the City of Brandon Community Services Department.
