Parking Restrictions Enforced at Brandon Municipal Airport

March 9, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – In response to recent traffic congestion issues being experienced on site, management and staff at the Brandon Municipal Airport would like to remind all those travelling or picking up travellers from the airport that the area directly in front of the terminal building’s entrance is for passenger drop-off ONLY and CANNOT be used by parked vehicles waiting for travellers arriving on incoming flights.

To alleviate congestion, individuals who are waiting for their arriving parties to collect their checked luggage are asked to either park in the airport’s parking lot, or park along the side road to the south of the terminal building. Airport staff are available to direct on-site traffic during periods of high traffic volumes and manage traffic flow for the safety of all. To assist in this process, vehicles found to be parked in front of the terminal building or in designated parking spots, such as those for Nav Canada and Enterprise Rent-a-Car, will be ticketed and possibly towed, as per the City of Brandon’s Traffic By-law.

The City of Brandon would also like to remind all travellers that security screening is in place for all WestJet flights departing from the Brandon Municipal Airport. As such, all travellers should be arriving a minimum of 90 minutes prior to their scheduled departure to ensure adequate time to check in and be processed through the single security checkpoint with checked and carry-on luggage. WestJet adheres to a strict check-in cut off time of 45 minutes prior to departure. Travellers who arrive at the Brandon Municipal Airport after WestJet’s check-in cut off time will be denied access to their flight, without exception.
