Brandon Transit To ‘Fill The Bus’ For Christmas Cheer

November 12, 2014

Brandon, MB - Together with its community sponsors, the City of Brandon and Brandon Transit have launched the 11th annual “Fill The Bus” campaign in support of the Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer Registry. This year, donations of food and toys are being gratefully accepted on all regular Brandon Transit routes from Monday, November 10th to Saturday, November 29th. During these dates, the regular Transit fare will be waived for any customer donating a non-perishable food item or new, unwrapped toy.

Brandon Transit employees will also be accepting donations of unwrapped toys or non-perishable food items, as well as monetary contributions, at the below locations on the following dates:

  • Canada Safeway in the Corral Centre – Saturday, November 15th - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.;
  • Canada Safeway in the Corral Centre - Saturday, November 22nd - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.;
  • Canadian Tire/Sobey’s South – Saturday, November 29th - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For convenience, pre-made donation packages of $5 or $10 are available for purchase at the Canada Safeway in the Corral Centre and at the Sobey’s South location.

“Each year, our Brandon Transit operators really take ownership of this donation drive as their way of giving back to the community they serve,” notes City of Brandon’s acting Manager of Transit Marty Farthing. “We encourage all Brandon Transit riders and others in the community to join us in raising donations for the Christmas Cheer Registry to ensure that everyone’s holiday can be a happy one.”

Brandon Transit’s annual “Fill The Bus” Campaign is generously supported this year by Canada Safeway, Canadian Tire, Sobey’s, Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Off The Wall Signs and 880 CKLQ/94.7 Star FM.
