Update: Structure Fire – Residential Complex 1400 Pacific Ave

Following an investigation into the  fire at 1400 Pacific Ave on Tuesday September 21, 2021, members of the Office of the Fire Commissioner and Brandon Fire & Emergency Services have determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.

All residents of this building are officially accounted for and safe.

 

Break and Enter – Suspect Arrested

On September 22, 2021, police responded to a report of a male laying down in the grass in the 1200 block of 12th street.  The male was found to be intoxicated and was lodged at Brandon Police Service as he was in no condition to care for himself.

Police later learned that the 35-year-old male was also the suspect in a B&E to a business in the 1500 block of 18th street, which occurred on September 21, 2021.  He was identified through security footage from the business. 

He was arrested for Break and Enter with Intent and will be released to appear in court on November 22, 2021.

Assault with a Weapon

On September 22, 2021, police responded to a report of an assault in a residence shortly after 4:00 am.  Investigation revealed that the suspect struck the victim on the head with a weight scale.  The victim did not require medical attention. 

The 28-year-old male suspect left the residence following the assault, but was located and arrested at 3:30 pm.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Assault and Assault with a Weapon.

 

Assault

On September 22, 2021, while responding to a residence on a separate matter, police learned that an assault also took place. The suspect threw the victim out of the residence, ripped the door handle off a vehicle, and struck the victim.  The victim did not require medical attention. 

The 25-year-old male suspect was arrested and later released to appear in court on December 23, 2021 on a charge of Assault and Mischief Under $5000.

 

Theft Under $5000

On September 22, 2021, shortly before 12:00 pm, police responded to a report of theft of merchandise from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Ave by a male suspect.  Employees recognized the male as the same suspect who also stole merchandise the day before. 

The male provided a false name to police before he was identified.  He was arrested and later released to appear in court on November 29, 2021 on charges of Theft Under $5000 and Public Mischief.

 

Arrest Warrant

On September 22, 2021, police located and arrested a 26-year-old female who was wanted on outstanding charges.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service and appeared in court on charges of Fail to comply with Undertaking and Possession CDSA.
