Tonight at 8:46 pm, members of BFES and Brandon Police Service attended to a structure fire in a four floor residential complex at 1400 pacific Ave. Officers were able to enter the building to evacuate residents. At this time, authorities are not aware of any injuries.
As of 10:30 pm, the building appears to be fully engulfed in flames, as emergency crews continue to battle the fire.
We would like to request that the public and motorists stay away from the area, including nearby Rosser Ave as unnecessary traffic congestion is occurring which could make it difficult for additional emergency crews to attend.
Residents of the building are being advised that they will have transport via bus to the Salvation Army, located 9 Princess Ave E. where they can register and seek assistance to find temporary accommodation. The meeting point will be in the area of 13th and Rosser.
More updates will be provided as information becomes available.
Update: Residents are now being advised to attend to the Victoria Inn to register. Impacted residents can also call 204-729-2186.
