DOMESTIC ASSAULT

On May 22, 2021 at approx. 5:00 pm police were called to residence in the 400 blk Russell St for an intoxicated male refusing to leave the residence. When police arrived the caller disclosed to police that the male had assaulted her on Sunday 16th. During that assault he fractured her arm by smashing it with a large wrench. Officers observed her arm was in a cast. She then indicated that he had been “using her as a punching bag”. The victim was taken to Emerg for treatment. The suspect, a 46 year old male, was on a release order for assaulting her in the past. That order includes conditions not to attend Brandon, not to attend to her residence and not to communicate with her. He will appear in court this morning on charges of Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Domestic Assault and FTC with Release order x 3.

On May 22 at approx. 10:00 pm, police received a report of a female being assaulted in a residence in the 300 blk 13th St. Members attended and determined that the 49 year old female and the 48 year old male had both assaulted each other. Both suspects were intoxicated. There were minor injuries. They were both arrested for assault and held in custody until sober. The male will appear in court on August 16, 2021 and the female will appear on August 12, 2021.

THEFT UNDER

On May 21, 2021 a business in the 900 blk 18th St N reported a guitar was stolen. On the morning of May 22, 2021 another business reported a suspect stole a package of cigarettes and a lighter. At approx. 6:15 pm the suspect was seen by police walking in the 300 blk Victoria Ave E with the stolen guitar on his back. He was stopped and arrested. He will appear in court this morning on charges of Theft Under $5000 X2, FTC with Undertaking

OTHER ARRESTS

On May 22, 2021 at approx. 3:00 pm police conducted a pedestrian check in the 900 blk of College Ave.  The subject was found in possession of two concealed knives, a small quantity of meth as well as identification belonging to 5 other people. The 43 year old male was arrested and then released on an Undertaking to appear in court on Aug 19, 2021 on charges of Possession of a Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon, Possession of Meth and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

On May 22, 2021 Portage RCMP advised they had arrested a 20 year old male on an arrest warrant BPS held for Assault with a weapon and Assault by choking. He was released to appear in court on Aug 26, 2021.

On May 22, 2021 at approx. 9:15 pm police saw a 36 year old female walking in the 400 blk 3rd St. She appeared to be intoxicated. She had no place to go so was lodged until sober.

On May 23, 2021 at approx. 2:30 am police stopped a vehicle in the 1800 blk McTavish Ave. In the vehicle were two subjects. The first was a 25 year old female, who had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and then released on an Appearance Notice for Fail to Attend for Fingerprints. She will attend court on August 16, 2021. The second subject, a 28 year old male, was on a Release Order to have no communication with the first subject and a curfew of 9:00 pm to 7:00 am. He was arrested and then released on an Undertaking to appear in court on August 9th, 2021 on charges of Breach of Release Order X2.

On May 23, 2021 at 2:15 AM, police check a 41 year old male in the 1200 blk Victoria Ave. A computer check showed he was on two undertaking both with curfew conditions.  He was held to appear in court in the morning on charges of Breach of Undertaking X2.

On May 23, 2021 at approx. 4:00 am police stopped a taxi in the 700 blk Louise Ave. A computer check showed the passenger in the taxi had a warrant for his arrest and was on undertaking with a curfew condition. He was arrested and then released to appear in court on August 16, 2021 on charges of Breach of Probation, Breach of Undertaking.
