Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo

On May 18, 2021, shortly after 6:00 am, police came across a male in the 400 block of 11th street, who was wanted on outstanding charges.  The male fled on foot in an attempt to evade police, and threw a backpack into a residential yard in the process.

The 24-year-old male was apprehended and arrested in the 400 block of 8th street.  Police discovered a loaded Cooey 12 gauge sawed off shotgun with the serial number ground off in the backpack he discarded. 

He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and appeared in court yesterday on numerous firearm related offences: Carry a Concealed Weapon, Unauthorized Possession Prohibited/Restricted Weapon Possession of Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo, Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime, Firearm: Tampering with a Serial Number Possession of a firearm or ammunition, Contrary to a Prohibition Order, Fail to Comply with a Release Order X 2, Fail to Comply with Probation Order.  

 

Possession Weapon Dangerous

On May 19, 2021 shortly after 3:00 pm, police responded to a report of a male who was behaving erratically in the 900 block of Rosser Ave.  Investigation revealed the 51-year-old male was in possession of a large knife.  He was arrested and later released to appear in court on August 21, 2021 on a charge of Possession of a Weapon.

On May 18, 2021 shortly before noon, police responded to a report of an intoxicated male in a business in the 800 block of Rosser Ave.  The 30-year-old male was in no condition to care for himself.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On May 18, 2021 at approximately 2:30 pm, police responded to a report of a male sleeping in the laneway of the 200 block of 4th street.  The 38-year-old male was found to be intoxicated and in no condition to care for himself.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On May 18, 2021 at 5:00 pm, police responded to a report of an intoxicated female was behaving erratically in a residential yard.  The 54-year-old female was not welcome at the home, and was in no condition to care for herself.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

 

Breach of Peace

On May 18, 2021 at 6:00 am, police attended to a business in the 700 block of 10th street following the report of a male who was attempting to steal merchandise.  The 29-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On May 18, 2021 shortly after 9:00 pm, police responded to a report of a disturbance in a residence.  An intoxicated 62-year-old male was found to be the cause of the issues, and others in the home were unable to prevent his behavior from escalating.  He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service to be released when sober.

On May 18, 2021 shortly before 11:00 pm, police responded to a report of a disturbance in a residence.  An intoxicated 57-year-old male was found to be the cause of the issues, and others in the home were unable to prevent his behavior from escalating.  He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service to be released when sober.

On May 18, 2021 at approximately 11:30 pm, police responded to a report of an intoxicated 15-year-old male youth in a residence.  The youth’s caregivers were unable to care for him or prevent his behavior from escalating.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.
