Imitation Firearm

At 11:35 p.m. Friday, police attended to an apartment block in the south end of the city, as a complaint was received that a male was brandishing a handgun during a social gathering. Police were able to gain entry to the apartment, and located an imitation pellet pistol in the possession of a 21-year-old Brandon male. That male was lodged in cells at BPS overnight, and will appear before a Justice this morning, facing two charges of breach of a recognizance order.

Impaired Driver/MVA

Just after midnight today, a single vehicle accident occurred at the north end of the Daly Overpass on 18th Street, when the operator of the vehicle lost control and struck a hydro pole. The driver and passengers were not injured, however the driver showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested. The 25-year-old male from Brandon provided samples of his breath in excess of the legal limit. Police detained the male in cells at BPS overnight, and he will be released today for Provincial Court in June, facing charges of impaired driving and driving over 80 mg%.

Domestic Violence Arrest

At 1:50 a.m. today, police attended a domestic assault in the south end of the city. The investigation revealed that a male and female currently in a relationship had assaulted each other during an argument. The 33-year-old female, and 34 year old male, both of Brandon, were released on conditions to have no contact with each other. Both will appear in Provincial Court in June, each facing a charge of assault.  

Other Arrests

  • At 7:15 p.m. Friday, police attended a disturbance at a residence in the north part of the city. An intoxicated 22 year old Brandon female was removed from the home, and held in BPS cells overnight without charge. She was be released later today when sober.
  • At 8:25 p.m. Friday, a male was reported acting strangely inside a work site in the 700 block of 17th Street. Police located the 27-year-old Brandon resident, who was high on meth. Police lodged the male in cells at the BPS office, for release later in the day when sober.
  • At 8:45 p.m. Friday, police took a 40-year-old Brandon male into custody for breach of a court order, which obliged the male to reside at a specific address and present himself at the door of his residence for police checks. The male had moved without permission from the court, and as a result was held in cells overnight at the BPS office. He will appear before a Justice today, and faces a single charge of failing to abide by a release order.
