Downtown Business Resource Guide

Effective Handling of Sharps (needles, syringes, lancets, EpiPens):

• Property owners are responsible for cleaning up their property which if applicable, includes the clean-up of sharps found on their property. For guidance on how to properly pick up and dispose of sharps, please visit the Prairie Mountain Health website (pdf (pmh-mb.ca)) or follow the guidelines below.
• If sharps are found in public parks or greenspaces contact the Parks Department at 204-729-2148 or parks@brandon.ca. For other public property like streets, back lanes and sidewalks call the Public Works Department at 204-729-2290 or email publicworks@brandon.ca to report.
• Sharps found on public property can also be immediately disposed of by citizens following the guidelines below.

Guidelines for picking up and disposing of sharps:

Use tongs, pliers or tweezers to pick up the plastic end of the needle.  Point the tip down and away from your body.  DO NOT try to put the cap back on the needle. 

1. Put the needle in a sturdy plastic container (sharps container that can be purchased at a pharmacy, empty bleach or laundry detergent bottles, or empty drink bottles with a lid). Close the container securely and tape the lid tightly.

2. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

3. Please do NOT place bottles in the recycling bin. Needles in a secured plastic container can be taken to the designated community sharps locations listed below:

• • 7^th Street Access Centre at 20 7^th Street (located inside the lobby - open 7 days a week except statutory holidays from 10:00 am-6:00 pm)
  • Medical Centre Pharmacy at 140-6^th St (take to the pharmacy - open Monday-Friday 09:00 am-6:00pm and Saturday 09:00 am-5:00 pm)
  • Brandon Regional Health Centre at 150 McTavish Avenue East (located in between the front doors of the hospital - open daily from 06:00 am-9:00 pm)
  • Home Health Pharmacy at 3000 Victoria Avenue, Unit A (take to the pharmacy - open Monday-Friday 09:00 am-6:00pm and Saturday 09:00 am-4:00 pm)
  • Super Thrift Pharmacy at 1100 Richmond Ave (take to the pharmacy - open Monday-Friday 09:00 am-6:00pm and Saturday 09:00 am-5:00 pm)

Garbage and Waste Removal – Private Property:

• Businesses and residents are expected to maintain their own property including debris on their property.
• If there is a situation of debris from an unauthorized homeless encampment or unauthorized congregation on private property, please let the Community Housing and Wellness Coordinator for the City of Brandon know at s.saltarelli@brandon.ca. Please include the address or general location of the area of concern and if known when the encampment developed, whether people appear to be sleeping at the site and any other pertinent details. Reported sites will be visited by City staff and an outreach and clean-up plan actioned shortly thereafter.

Garbage and Waste Removal – Public Property:

• To report overflowing public waste bins and recycling bins, damage to public waste bins, or debris on public property please call Sanitation at 204-729-2281 or email solidwaste@brandon.ca. Sanitation will respond in a timely manner based on available resources.
• Public waste bins in public parks are rolled out to the street on garbage pick-up days by City of Brandon staff.

Human Feces on Private Property:

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on how to safely remove human waste found on the ground and dispose of it. This document has been created with consultation from Manitoba Public Health, Prairie Mountain Health, The City of Brandon and online resources from the Centre for Disease Control and other bio-clean organizations.

Please note the process outlined below is to address the issue of cleaning up human defecation, not animal waste.

If there is human waste found on private (residential or business) property please use the following guidelines:

• If the human waste is on a hard surface it can be scraped or scooped up, cleaned and then disinfected (see below for further instructions).
• If the human waste is on grass or soil, scoop up what you can and clean the surface where the waste was using hot water and an environmentally friendly cleaning agent or disposable cleaning cloths. Do not use bleach on soil or grass. If you cannot get it all cleaned up we recommend fencing off the area to avoid cross contamination.

Just to note; Urine and Fecal matter are not considered biomedical waste therefore can be disposed of in your residential or municipal garbage.

Cleaning Instructions

What you will need:

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Cleaning gloves, face mask, face shield or eye protection (optional)
• Disposable plastic bags
• Paper towel
• Something to scrape with that can be easily disinfected or disposed of. A folded paper plate can work effectively as a scoop.
• Dish soap or cleaning detergent
• Bleach or disinfecting wipes. Please note that bleach breaks down quickly so it should be mixed fresh before each time you need it.
• Put on the appropriate PPE. Scrape up as much solid waste as you can. Work inward from the least soiled areas to the most soiled to prevent unnecessary spreading. Place waste and debris (ex: toilet paper) in a disposable bag (double bagging is preferred).
• Use hot water, soap and paper towels or disposable cloths to clean the soiled area. Repeat until the area appears to be clean and ready for disinfection. Throw out paper towels/cloths, preferably in a double bagged garbage bag.
• Follow the instructions for the disinfectant product you are using (ex: ensure you mix bleach with water) and check if the product needs to sit on the soiled area for a period of time to break down the infectious material. Throw away any materials or disinfectant wipes used to clean with into a disposable plastic bag.
• After the recommended contact time, or a minimum of 1-2+ minutes, rinse the area thoroughly with water and let dry.

Basic Hygiene Practices Following Human Waste Clean Up

• Wash hands with soap and water immediately after handling human waste.
• Avoid touching face, mouth, eyes, nose, or open sores and cuts while handling human waste.
• Do not smoke or chew tobacco or gum while handling human waste.
• Keep open sores, cuts, and wounds covered with clean, dry bandages and use waterproof gloves.
• Gently flush eyes with safe water if human waste contacts eyes.
• Clean any contaminated clothing or footwear with 0.05% chlorine solution (1 part household bleach to 100 parts water).

Back Alley Maintenance:

There is currently no scheduled maintenance (weeding, hedge trimming, pot hole filling, etc) of the back lanes in Brandon and the City will respond to concerns on a complaint basis only.

Sidewalk maintenance:

• To report tripping hazards or damage that poses a safety risk on public sidewalks please contact the Public Works Department at 204-729-2290 or report online at City of Brandon - Report an Issue
• As per Traffic By-Law 5463/Part III/Section 10.7, all businesses or property owners if a business premise is empty, are legally required to remove snow and ice from the sidewalks in front of their businesses by 10:00 am. If a business fails to do so, the slipping risk can be reported to the City’s By-Law Enforcement at Brandon Police at 204-729-2345. By-Law Enforcement Officers will assess the situation and contact the business or property owner to remind them of their obligation and if the snow or ice is not removed, the City of Brandon will remove the ice or snow and will bill the business or property owner. • Where possible and safe to do so, we encourage residents to clean up small amounts of broken glass or debris when noted on sidewalks, public spaces or parks. If is it large amounts or not safe to do so please call the Public Works Department at 204-729-2990 or report online at City of Brandon - Report an Issue. Snow clean up on sidewalks around parking meters:

• Snow is removed around parking meters after a significant snowfall once the streets are plowed and time permits.
• To report large accumulation of snow around parking meters please contact the Public Works Department at 204-729-2290 or publicworks@brandon.ca with the location of the meter(s) and the meter number(s).

Maintaining weeds – Public Areas:

• To report unsightly weeds on public property please call the Parks department at 204-729-2148 or email parks@brandon.ca
• Please note that the City does not spray for weeds in parks or greenspaces but will maintain their growth with regular mowing and maintenance.

Maintaining weeds – Private land:

• It is the owner’s responsibility to maintain their weeds and greenspace.
• To report unsightly weeds on private property please contact City of Brandon By-Law at 204-729-2345.
• If private property becomes unsightly; as per the Nuisance By-Law, once notified of the situation the City will provide formal notice that the property owner needs to do the proper yard maintenance. If the maintenance has not be completed by the specified date, the City will deploy a contractor to do the work and the property owner will be billed accordingly. Public Washroom (Princess Park):

• The public washrooms in Princess Park are maintained by the City of Brandon. Cleaners tend to the washroom 4 times a day 7 days a week. If there is damage to the public washrooms, the impacted washroom will be locked until repairs are completed.

Parking meter not working

• Please contact the parking meter shop at 204-729-2290 or publicworks@brandon.ca
• Please provide the location of the meter, the meter number and what the problem appears to be.

Wanting to temporarily block off a parking meter

• Ex: renovations in front of building or for installing a patio.
• Please complete the Parking Meter Rental Space Application. This application can only be acquired at the License and Permits Department at City Hall only. The address is 410-9^th St and phone number is 204-729-2230.
• The fees are on the application form and are as follows:
  • Application Fee - $19.00 (PA09-21)
  • No. of spaces ____ x no. of days _____ x $6.00 = (PA10-21)
  • Meter head removal ($72.00) or meter head and stand removal ($141.00)
  • Additional charges - there will be a $44 charge for any meter head covers lost or not returned
• Applications can be brought to the License and Permits Department and then a meter bag will be issued for the parking meter(s).

Vehicle parked on private property without authorization to do so:         

• If you are having problems with unauthorized parking in a private parking lot, the first step is to install signage prohibiting unauthorized parking. (see below for verbiage and By-Law link)
• Private property owners can call Brandon Police at 204-729-2345 to determine if the vehicle is of interest to the police service (e.g. stolen or abandoned). Brandon Police will document the incident in their system. 
• If the vehicle is not of interest to police, the property owner can make arrangements to have the vehicle towed at the vehicle owner’s expense as long as there is clear and legible signage which indicate that pursuant to the City’s Traffic By-Law, parking is prohibited or restricted. Please reference Traffic By-Law 5463/Part III/Section 48.  Traffic_By-law_No._5463_-_Parts_II_and_III  (657 KB).
• Provided Brandon Police has been contacted as noted above prior to the vehicle being towed, if the owner calls police to report the vehicle missing they will be informed it was towed.
• Only the business owner, property owner or property manager can call a towing company to remove the vehicle. Therefore if a business is leasing space and encountering parking issues, they will need to contact the property owner and ask them to have illegally parked vehicles towed (provided the appropriate signage is posted).

Public Parking

• The City of Brandon has a public parking lot at 1201 Pacific Ave where the public can park for free in any unreserved parking spaces. Electric plug in spots are available for rent in the winter. Email the Planning Department at planning@brandon.ca to reserve a spot.

• The City Hall parking lot located at 410-9^th Street is available for free public parking Monday-Friday from 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM and all day on Saturday and Sunday.

Downtown security is currently delivered through a wide range of activities including

• Brandon Police Service patrols
• Private Security patrols
• Downtown businesses and residents acting as additional eyes and ears
• Public visiting downtown

Brandon Police Service’s Community Policing section has officers on foot / bicycle patrolling throughout the week (Monday-Friday) in the downtown when available, supported by other members and sections of the police service as required. The Community Policing section also supports several groups, agencies and boards throughout the community therefore downtown patrol is dependent on officer availability.

The General Patrol officers provide service to the entire City of Brandon including downtown 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. If downtown businesses or their employees, residents or visitors feel they require a response from police officers they can speak with the community police officers if they encounter them downtown, they can call 204-729-2345 for non-emergency situations or call 911 for emergencies.  Personnel will be deployed as warranted by the situation and staff availability.

The City of Brandon engaged the services of private security to increase downtown security patrols.  Two security guards are on foot patrol in the downtown seven days a week (excluding statutory holidays) in the afternoon and evening. The core responsibilities of the private security guards include:

• crime prevention and detection
• advising people that are loitering that they must move along
• properly disposing of sharps they encounter while on patrol
• support and assistance to visitors to the downtown
• community support
• first aid
• police liaison. 

Downtown businesses are encouraged to share security concerns with private security while they are patrolling in the downtown. Concerns are forwarded to the City of Brandon via daily reports for follow up when applicable. 

Downtown business owners, employees, residents and visitors provide extra eyes and ears for downtown.  Concerns or opportunities for improvement in the downtown can be shared in a variety of ways with the main ones listed below:

• Community Police Officers while on foot patrol or by contacting Brandon Police Service at the phone numbers noted above
• Downtown private security patrols while on foot patrol in the downtown
• Downtown Ward Councillor Kris Desjarlais at 204-573-5717 or ward2@brandon.ca
• City of Brandon Departments as listed in this guide.

Guidelines for determining what an emergency is and when to call 911

When to call the non-emergency police line 204-729-2345:

• If some time has elapsed since the incident occurred, or a lengthy delay (such as an assault that occurred ‘last night’ at a bar)
• If the suspect is no longer at the scene (a break and enter that occurred sometime overnight)
• If there is no specific suspect (theft of bicycle, graffiti left on building overnight)
• Noisy party
• Ongoing issues such as an individual suspected of dealing drugs
• Individuals illegally consuming drugs or alcohol

Please note that for non-emergency calls the Police or By-Law Enforcement Officer will respond on a priority and availability basis.

When to call 911 for an emergency:

911 is for emergencies when immediate action is required.  When a crime is in progress or when someone’s health and safety or property are in jeopardy.

Examples:

• Events that involve an immediate threat to a person or property: screams, attacks, threatening behavior, gunshots, fires, car accidents with injuries or any other medical emergency
• A substantive, in-progress incident. This includes fights, break and enters in progress (if there is a suspect on scene), robbery in progress, or a report of an impaired driver
• A serious crime that has just occurred (examples: sexual assault, robbery or serious assault)
• A suspicious circumstance that may indicate an imminent criminal act (examples: prowler, vandal)

If the provincial 911 operator determines that your call is not an immediate emergency, they may transfer the call directly to local police to free up the emergency line, or they may ask you to hang up and place the call yourself to the non-emergency line 204-729-2345.

If you call 911 by accident, please stay on the line as an operator will still want to talk with you to ensure you are ok.

Please note that for 911 emergency calls the Police will respond on a priority and availability basis dependent on other emergencies at that time.

Theft/Robbery

When witnessing a robbery in progress and there is an immediate threat to personal safety call 911. Police do not recommend having staff apprehend thieves due to the risk of physical harm to themselves.  Verbal confrontation may deter the suspect.

If there is a theft is progress with no threat of harm, you may call 911 and the call will be prioritized based on the severity of the situation. Pushing a panic alarm in this situation would not be appropriate.

If the theft has already occurred please call Brandon Police 204-729-2345 with a description of the suspect and if they have already left the premise provide police with both the suspect’s description and direction they headed after vacating the premise. If video surveillance is available please advise Brandon Police when you report the incident.  

Businesses can deter theft a few ways:

• Setting up their stores in such a manner that the would-be thieves must go past an employee both into and out of the store to deter theft;
• Make it a policy that everyone is directly greeted as they come in; 
• Have a store policy that no backpacks are allowed in the premise; 
• Keep small, desirable or expensive items locked up; 
• Install quality security cameras with one pointed at an entry location as clients enter. This provides good facial images;
• Keep the store uncluttered with good sightlines and no blind spots.

Panic Alarms

• Businesses may opt to install panic alarms however it is very important to understand that there are no business installed alarms that go directly to Brandon Police Service. Each alarm service provider has their own policy on how calls are directed to police, so there is a time lag before police offers will be notified and dispatched.
• An individual or businesses intending to install a panic alarm must have a City of Brandon permit before the alarms are activated to avoid fines.
• When police receive notice of any alarm, the report is dispatched as a high priority; however, if there are no available units because of a high call volume, the next available unit will be dispatched. Usually the response time to an alarm is mere minutes after police are made aware of it, but there are exceptions.
• Panic Alarms are only to be used in the event of imminent danger to one’s physical wellbeing where getting to a phone in a timely manner is not possible. Witnessing a theft in progress when there is no safety concern or threat of harm is not a reason to push the panic alarm. Instead the call should be placed to 911.
• Most alarms, including panic alarms, that police respond to are false and take up valuable resources.  False alarms occur whenever the alarm is activated when there is no emergency.  False alarms to a building (business or residence) occur often when someone forgets the code, doesn’t activate the code properly, during stormy weather, from pets or movement of objects (air vents coming on and moving large hanging decorations), system glitch, someone accidentally hits a panic button, or when someone hits the panic button for a situation that is not an emergency and there is no immediate threat. For example; someone disagreeing with another person, even if they become visibly agitated is not always an emergency, and a phone call to police should occur so that we can determine the priority of the situation. 
• The City of Brandon has a by-law that allows alarm subscribers to be fined after four or more false alarms in a 12 month period that were not caused by weather, natural disaster or independent person (customer or contractor by accident). 

Safer Neighbourhoods and Policing (S.N.A.P.)

• Safer Neighbourhoods and Policing (S. N. A. P) offers citizens and business owners in Brandon the opportunity to register the location of security camera systems onto an online mapping database that can be accessed by Brandon Police. Only members of Brandon Police Service will access to the map and data and it is a secure and confidential platform.
• Owners of security camera systems within City of Brandon limits can access this registration system at https://snap.brandon.ca to enter contact information, location, and number of cameras, which police will in turn see populated on a map of the City of Brandon. You can also remove your information at any time.
• Police may use the information citizens put into the database to contact them in the event a crime has been committed in their area.  If camera owners have useful security footage, they have the ability to assist in police investigations by sharing it.  Police will provide a storage device to retrieve any relevant footage so there is no need to remove camera equipment.  Participation in this program does not mean that individuals are obligated to provide police with any foota

Trespassing on private property:

• If the public has general access to a property, no trespass has occurred. For example; a store or business that is open to the public would be considered a premise in which the public has general access to a property.
• If there is an individual(s) that the owner (or representative) no longer wants on the property, the owner must convey this message to the individual either verbally or in writing themselves. 
• If the unwanted party refuses to leave the property after being requested by the owner, they may be guilty of a Provincial offence under the Petty Trespasses Act.  Police may be called at 204-729-2345 at this point to enforce the act once the owner has attempted to have the individual leave. 
• If a trespasser is behaving in a threatening manner, or committing other offences such as theft and vandalism, call 911 immediately.

Loitering on public or private property:

• As per the City of Brandon Nuisance Bylaw  Nuisance_By-law_No._5806_with_amendments (357 KB):
  • No person shall be allowed to stand in groups, sit or lounge on chairs, benches or other things, or to loiter in front of any business establishment or residence or in a street to cause any obstruction to the free use of the street.
  • No person shall commit any public nuisance by collecting, loitering or standing as an idler on any of the streets or sidewalks of the City, in any public place within the City, on the step to a house or other premises open to a street whereby a members of the public are liable to be subjected to disturbance or annoyance.
• You may ask individuals that are loitering (as defined above) to move along on both public and private property. Brandon Police non-emergency line 204-729-2345 may be called to assist with moving along individuals who are loitering if they do not move when asked. If private security is in the vicinity, they can also be asked to assist in moving people that are loitering along.

People displaying their privates publicly:

• Please call Brandon Police at the time of the incident at 204-729-2345 and provide a description of the individual who exposed themselves and request that a patrol be dispatched. 
• If the person does the act and immediately leaves, call police and provide them with the individual’s description as well as the direction they headed after exposing themselves and ask for a patrol to respond. 
• Individuals can be either fined for this behavior or charged criminally, depending on the nature of the act and if there is any available evidence or witnesses.

Vandalism on private property (including graffiti):

• If the vandalism is witnessed on private property, the business or property owners/staff are advised to call Brandon Police at the time of the incident at 204-729-2345 and provide a description of the suspect, the address or general vicinity of the incident and request that a patrol be dispatched. 
• If the person does the vandalism and immediately leaves, call police and provide them with the individual’s description as well as the direction they headed and ask for a patrol to respond. 
• If the vandalism is found after the act has occurred, call Brandon Police Service at 204-729-2345 and report the vandalism. Police will take a photo and generate a file of the incident.
• Business and property owners are encouraged to promptly clean up the vandalism once it has been documented by Brandon Police as research has confirmed that vandalism and graffiti left will attract additional vandalism and graffiti.
• Contact your insurance provider to submit a vandalism claim if applicable.

Vandalism on public property (including graffiti):

• If the vandalism is witnessed please call Brandon Police at the time of the incident at 204-729-2345 and provide a description of the suspect, the address or general vicinity of the incident and request that a patrol be dispatched. 
• If the person does the vandalism and immediately leaves, call police and provide them with the individual’s description as well as the direction they headed and ask for a patrol to respond. 
• If the vandalism is found after the act has occurred, call Brandon Police Service at 204-729-2345 to report the vandalism.
• Police will take a photo and generate a file of the incident.
• For public property only, police will advise the applicable city department and clean up the vandalism will occur as quickly as possible.

Derelict, Vacant or Unsafe Buildings:

Vacant, unsafe or derelict buildings includes any of the following conditions:

• A building that clearly appears to be vacant or derelict, this would include buildings that
  • have not been occupied for an extended period of time
  • have broken windows that have not been covered up
  • have boarded up windows
  • have a door or doors that are ajar
  • it is clearly evident that the building is not being regularly maintained
  • appears to have people squatting in it.

If you see, a building that you believe meets the conditions of being a vacant or derelict building please report it to the City’s Planning & Buildings Department for follow up. While reporting it please provide the address of the building if known and if not a general description of the building and area so that City staff are able to find it in order to inspect the building. Please note that a building that is unoccupied but does not meet one or more of the conditions listed above is not considered a vacant / derelict building. Therefore, any concerns with an unoccupied property that does not meet the criteria of a vacant / derelict building should be reported to By-law enforcement at 204-729-2290.

When a building meets one or more of the criteria for a vacant / derelict building and you wish to report undesirable activity such as vandalism or graffiti, debris on or surrounding the property, including needles, grass or tree overgrowth please report your concerns to both the City’s By-Law section and the City’s Planning Department:

Panhandling:

• While the action of panhandling itself is not an offence, when other behaviors are present, it may be best to have police handle to the situation. Please call the Brandon Police at 204-729-2345 if the individual panhandling is becoming aggressive towards others or if the individual is impeding traffic causing a safety concern.
• If the individual is panhandling on private property and you do not want them on your property, please ask them to remove themselves. If they will not leave please call the Brandon Police non-emergency line at 204-729-2345 to assist with moving along individuals who do not have permission to be on private property.

Individuals sleeping on public or private property

• Please request a wellness check by calling the Brandon Police at the time of the incident at 204-729-2345 and provide the location and a description of the individual.
• Brandon Police Services will assess the situation and will find them appropriate lodging depending on their circumstances.

Reporting unauthorized homeless encampments or congregating areas:

• For immediate reporting of any criminal activity or imminent safety risks please contact Brandon Police at 911 (for emergency) and 204-729-2345 (non-emergency)
• Within the City of Brandon people are not permitted to set up tents or temporary housing encampments anywhere other than designated campgrounds. If an unauthorized homeless encampment or homeless congregating site develops please let the Community Housing and Wellness Coordinator for the City of Brandon know at s.saltarelli@brandon.ca. Please include the address or general location of the area of concern and if known when the encampment developed, whether people appear to be sleeping at the site and any other pertinent details.
• Reported sites will be visited by City staff and an outreach and clean-up plan actioned shortly thereafter.

Person urinating or defecating in public or private property:

• Please call Brandon Police at the time of the incident at 204-729-2345 and provide a description of the suspect, address or general vicinity of where the incident occurred and request that a patrol be dispatched. 
• If the person does the act and immediately leaves, call police and provide them with the individual’s description as well as the direction they headed after urinating and ask for a patrol to respond.

Unauthorized or illegal drug or alcohol consumption on public or private property

• Please call Brandon Police at the time of the incident at 204-729-2345 and provide a description of the individual taking the drugs or consuming alcohol and request that a patrol be dispatched. 
• If the person takes the drugs or consumes the alcohol and immediately leaves, call police and provide them with the individual’s description as well as the direction they headed when they departed the area and ask for a patrol to respond. 

Effective Handling of Sharps (needles, syringes, lancets, EpiPens):

• Property owners are responsible for cleaning up their property which if applicable, includes the clean-up of sharps found on their private property. For guidance on how to properly pick up and dispose of, please visit the Prairie Mountain Health website (pdf (pmh-mb.ca)) or follow the guidelines below.
• If sharps are found in public parks or geenspaces contact the Parks Department at 204-729-2148 or parks@brandon.ca For other public property like streets, back lanes and sidewalks call the Public Works Department at 204-729-2290 or email publicworks@brandon.ca to report.
• Sharps found on public property can also be immediately disposed of by citizens following the guidelines below.

Guidelines for picking up and disposing of sharps:

Use tongs, pliers or tweezers to pick up the plastic end of the needle.  Point the tip down and away from your body.  DO NOT try to put the cap back on the needle. 

1. Put the needle in a sturdy plastic container (ex: sharps container, empty bleach or laundry detergent bottles, and empty drink bottles with a lid). Close the container securely and tape the lid tightly.

2. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

3. Please do NOT place bottles in the recycling bin. Needles in a secured plastic container can be taken to the designated community sharps locations listed below:

• • 7^th Street Access Centre at 20 7^th Street (located inside the lobby - open 7 days a week except statutory holidays from 10:00 am-6:00 pm)
  • Medical Centre Pharmacy at 140-6^th St (take to the pharmacy - open Monday-Friday 09:00 am-6:00pm and Saturday 09:00 am-5:00 pm)
  • Brandon Regional Health Centre at 150 McTavish Avenue East (located in between the front doors of the hospital - open daily from 06:00 am-9:00 pm)
  • Home Health Pharmacy at 3000 Victoria Avenue, Unit A (take to the pharmacy - open Monday-Friday 09:00 am-6:00pm and Saturday 09:00 am-4:00 pm)
  • Super Thrift Pharmacy at 1100 Richmond Ave (take to the pharmacy - open Monday-Friday 09:00 am-6:00pm and Saturday 09:00 am-5:00 pm)

The Brandon Downtown Development Corporation (BDDC) is a non-profit organization mandated to drive the revitalization of downtown Brandon by identifying and encouraging investment and redevelopment opportunities in the city's core. Established in 2008, Brandon Downtown Development Corporation is an arms-length agency of the City of Brandon, whose mandate is to provide leadership in the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of projects and activities in the downtown.​​​​​​​ 

Funded by the City of Brandon, BDDC uses incentive programs to leverage private sector investment downtown. With an ability to create unique partnerships between the public and private sectors, the Brandon Downtown Development Corporation helps bring to fruition redevelopment projects that may not otherwise have been feasible. One project at a time, the organization is helping to stimulate economic growth and bring new energy into the heart of our city. In addition, the corporation encourages new retail, entertainment, housing and commercial ventures, and public sector investment in public spaces, amenities, and services.

Under the guidance of a volunteer board of directors, Brandon Downtown Development Corporation develops and implements strategies to identify and capitalize on economic development opportunities in Brandon's downtown.
