Councillor Shaun Cameron

Born and raised in Brandon, Shaun Cameron was first elected to city council in 2018 to serve the University Ward, serving also as Acting Deputy Mayor during that term. He was acclaimed in 2022 to continue to serve the city in what is now known as Ward 4 (formerly University).

Shaun is married to his wonderful wife Karol and together they have two school aged daughters. Shaun is actively involved in our community both personally and professionally, with his career spanning work in media, the public school sector, post-secondary education, and assisting vulnerable persons in our community.

On the volunteer side Shaun served as a coach and mentor with various high-school athletics and artistic programs as well as seven years with the Manitoba Football Officials Association and five years as referee in chief for the Westman Youth Football Association. Further to that volunteer history, Shaun served as the Chair of the Downtown Development Group (2011-2014), Chair of the Valleyview Community Centre Board of Directors (2014-2018), and Secretary to the City of Brandon’s Central Council of Community Centres (2014-2018). Throughout that time his focus has and always will be giving back to the community that has done so much to make a home for so many.

As councillor for Ward 4 Shaun’s commitment is to be available to residents and address their needs in a timely fashion. Shaun wants to ensure as a city we are built on the principles of growth and sustainability, and that we are proactive in harnessing opportunities to allow our city to be prosperous. Shaun pledges to be engaged in the ward and will continue to be active daily in helping build our community.
