City Appoints Senior Building Inspector
Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon is excited to announce the appointment of Greg Merke to the role of Senior Building Inspector.
Mr. Merke has been a building inspector with the City of Brandon since 2008 and has been working as the city’s Senior Building Inspector on an interim basis since February 2011. He brings to the role 30 years of experience in the construction industry.
“Greg’s wealth of construction experience and his leadership abilities will allow the professional growth of the department as our city grows,” says City Engineer and General Manager of Development Services Ted Snure. “I am extremely pleased that he has accepted the position.”
In his role as Senior Building Inspector, Merke’s work will focus on addressing illegal suites to provide a safe place to live for all residents, updating the Building Safety and Property Standards bylaw to bring it in line with 2010 Code requirements, upgrading the policies for administering the city’s Buildings bylaw and continued education for the city’s building inspection staff.
“Building inspection is a tool in the delivery of building code safety to Brandon’s citizens through properly constructed buildings,” says Merke. “My team of building inspectors and I look forward to continued delivery of service to the City of Brandon with a high degree of professionalism.”
