City of Brandon Appoints Policy Analyst

City Manager Scott Hildebrand and City Clerk Con Arvisais are pleased to announce that Nathan Peto has been appointed as the City of Brandon’s new lead on policy development. Mr. Peto, currently the Brandon Chamber of Commerce General Manager, has accepted and will fill the newly created role of Policy Analyst for the City of Brandon starting in mid-November, 2011.

 

In conjunction with his working with City Council and Senior Administration on new initiatives, Nathan will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, researching, developing, implementing and maintaining policies for the City of Brandon.

 

Her Worship Mayor Shari Decter Hirst expressed: “Brandon is not the city it was in my parent’s generation. Expectations are changing, and charting a course that builds on the outstanding quality of life we enjoy here requires research and understanding of what our options are. Mr. Peto’s skills, training, and experience will be a major asset to Council and the community as we move Brandon from good to great!” “

 

As part of our overall strategy this is another important role that will allow us to be progressive and forward thinking.” said City Manager Scott Hildebrand adding: “Nathan is a great fit to our organization with strong leadership, sharp business sense and a varied skill set. I am really looking forward to his contribution.”

 

City Clerk Con Arvisais indicated: “Nathan’s academic and professional experience is exceptional and we are extremely fortunate that he is joining our team in supporting City Council and Administration in moving the City forward”. Nathan brings a breadth of policy experience from his previous positions where he worked actively with Federal, Provincial and Municipal policy as the Chamber’s General Manager and President of the Brandon University Students’ Union (BUSU).

 

“I am very excited for the chance to work hands on with the City of Brandon to develop effective and proactive policy that will continue to make Brandon one of the best cities to live in Canada,” Peto said “I am confident that my abilities and past experience will be a significant asset to the City in its ongoing development and growth.”

 

Nathan grew up and attended high school in Brandon. He attended Brandon University and served as BUSU President and Valedictorian for his graduating class. Nathan, his wife Tyne and son Noah live in, and love this community.
