City Council Meetings now online!
WCGtv To Provide Online Streaming of Brandon City Council Meetings
The City of Brandon, along with our partner Westman Communications Group, is pleased to announce that Council Meetings will be streamed live on the Internet, as of Monday, October 31st. As always, Westman Communications Group will be televising the meetings live on WCGtv Channel 12, but in addition Westman will stream the meetings free to anyone with Internet access. You will be able to access the feed from www.brandon.ca or from www.westmancom.com. Additionally the day after each meeting, a copy will be archived for your viewing and will be accessible through our main City of Brandon website.
While archived video of Brandon City Council’s Monday, October 17th meeting is already available online, the first live streaming of a council meeting will take place Monday, October 31st, at 7:30 p.m.
“This use of current technology enables us to increase access by citizens to our Council Meetings,” Mayor Shari Decter Hirst says of the new streaming feature. “Now anyone, anywhere in the world will be able to watch our meetings live or through our archive on the City site. If you want to, you could sit in the HUB of Brandon and watch our Council Meetings live via our free downtown wireless internet. I am very happy to have Westman Communications Group partner with us in this venture.”
This agreement is another step forward for the citizens of Brandon and demonstrates Westman Communication Group’s commitment to contributing to the community.
“We are pleased to offer these new live streams of City Council meetings,” says Dave Baxter, President and CEO of Westman Communication Group. “Westman devotes considerable time and resources to community programming and now is at the forefront of deploying Internet streaming for the benefit of our community.”
