A Path to Success: City of Brandon Unveils Roadmap For Growth
The City of Brandon is on a path to success following the launch of its Roadmap for Growth Strategic Plan, Brandon Mayor Shari Decter Hirst announced today.
Brandon’s Roadmap for Growth Strategic Plan has been formed from a collective vision of Brandon city council and the City of Brandon. That vision was born in early 2011 as the then newly-elected councillors sat down to map out their four-year mandate.
Over the past number of months, that vision has been refined through consultation with the city’s various departments. The result is a multi-year strategic plan containing nine “pillars” of growth that will move Brandon forward, into 2014 and beyond.
“City Council's 2010-2014 priorities and goals serve as a roadmap that directs our City toward positive change. The City of Brandon’s strategic plan determines where we are going, how we are going to get there and measures success over time,” explained Mayor Shari Decter Hirst. “It will ensure the most effective use of the City’s limited resources by focusing on key priorities
Pivotal to the success of the City of Brandon’s Roadmap for Growth Strategy will be collaboration. Each of the pillar’s initiatives will be championed by a member of city administration, who will work with their department staff, council, and where necessary, external partners to achieve an outcome that grows the City in a positive, sustainable way.
“Our role as city leaders is to carry the vision and strategic plan of our Mayor and Council through a process that is transparent, engaging and has effective outcomes,” said City Manager Scott Hildebrand. “Our community’s future success is extremely important and our Roadmap for Growth will guide us along that path.”
As the city’s 2012 budget will begin to lay the groundwork for the plan, Mayor Decter Hirst will present the Roadmap for Growth at the city’s upcoming public budget information session. That session is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec.6, at 7:30 p.m. in the foyer of City Hall. All members of the public are welcome to attend.
