Partial Closure of 8th Street Bridge in Brandon

May 14, 2015

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Engineering Department would like to advise the public that it has closed the southbound lane of the 8th Street Bridge to all traffic, effective immediately until further notice.

During this time, traffic on the bridge will be strictly limited to one-way, northbound traffic with a maximum load limit of five (5.0) tonnes. Pedestrian traffic over the bridge will not be impacted.

The partial closure has been put in place to allow for a detailed engineering assessment on the expansion joints on southbound lane and to complete a load rating assessment on the bridge.

Barriers are in place on both sides of the bridge to clearly block the southbound lane, and signage will be erected on Pacific Avenue, Assiniboine Avenue and Parker Boulevard to alert motorists in advance of the partial closure.

The City of Brandon asks the motoring public for its patience and cooperation in using alternate routes wherever possible for the duration of the partial closure.
