Celebrate ‘Eco Day in May’ at Brandon’s Downtown Global Market on May 26th

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Environmental Initiatives Section and the Brandon Environment Committee are pleased to join with their various community partners in presenting the 4th annual “Eco Day in May” event on Saturday, May 26th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Downtown Global Market (located at the corner of 12th Street and Rosser Avenue). The Eco Day in May event marks the first Global Market event of the 2018 season and also marks the City’s official debut as the first municipality in Manitoba to join the “Bee City” movement to establish and maintain a healthy pollinator habitat!

This year’s family-friendly and Fair Trade-designated event features something for everyone, including:

  • A $5 Fair Trade Pancake Breakfast & in support of the 2nd annual “Incredible Edible Brandon” community garden planter initiative in the City’s downtown;
  • A bee house making demonstration;
  • Learning opportunities on the topics of textile diversion, tree health, bees, and recycling;
  • Performances from MECCA Productions and an on-site bouncy castle;
  • Giveaways of tree seedlings and compost, along with various prize draws.
     

Those who attend can also provide any input they might have to contribute to the City of Brandon’s forthcoming Environmental Strategic Plan Update. All members of the community are invited to attend this fun and FREE community education event!
