City of Brandon Emergency Response Control Group Exercise - Tuesday, September 19th

September 18, 2017

The City of Brandon’s Emergency Response Control Group will be staging an emergency exercise simulating a chlorine leak at the City of Brandon Water Treatment Facility on the morning of Tuesday, September 19th. Beginning at 9 a.m., the exercise will include activation of a portion of the City of Brandon Emergency Alerting Siren System, the presence of smoke produced by a smoke machine, along with an on-scene response by the Brandon Police Service and Brandon Fire & Emergency Services personnel. Residents in the area have been advised of the planned exercise via hand-delivered letters and have been told to expect minor traffic disruptions.

The exercise provides a valuable opportunity for City of Brandon staff to practice a number of aspects relating to the City of Brandon’s Emergency Plan. The City of Brandon asks that the public be respectful in allowing emergency response personnel to conduct the exercise without distraction or interruption.
