Wheat City Golf Course Opening Date Set for May 3rd

April 26, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Community Services Department is pleased to confirm that the Wheat City Golf Course, located at 3500 McDonald Avenue, will be available for back 9-hole play beginning Wednesday, May 3rd. Weather-permitting and based on Assiniboine River levels in the immediate area, it is anticipated that full 18-hole play should be available two weeks after that on Wednesday, May 17th.

Golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to come down and check out the new look and feel of the Wheat City Golf Course, thanks to extensive earthwork done to the course in the off-season. In addition to the build-up of the lower portion of the golf course (a total of 12 fairways and 11 greens), elevated tee boxes have been created on the course’s 3rd and 5th holes, and drainage improvements have been made on its 4th and 7th holes. This work has not only improved the course’s playability, but has created an entirely new visual and physical experience for golfers as they make their way around the course.

In advance of the season’s launch, the course’s Pro Shop will open on Monday, May 1st. Information on the course, including season pass and casual rate pricing, club and cart rental information, how to book a tee time, and tennis court rentals, can be found by calling the Pro Shop at 204-729-2177 or by visiting www.wheatcitygolfcourse.ca. Featured pricing on cart rentals this year includes a full cart rental for $800 or a half-cart rental for $400, and golfers are reminded that the facility also provides secure cart storage on site. ‘Snack Shack’ concession and beverage cart services, courtesy of Brandon’s Keystone Centre, will return to the course upon commencement of 18-hole play.

Management and staff at the Wheat City Golf Course sincerely thank all golfers for their continued patronage as they strive to offer a superior golfing experience at the only 18-hole golf course located within Brandon city limits.
