City of Brandon Green Cart Program Set to Begin April 18th

April 10, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Sanitation Section is pleased to inform the public that the 2017 City of Brandon Green Cart Program will begin for the season on Tuesday, April 18th. This year, weekly pick-up will be maintained through to early November, weather-dependant.

All collection days will coincide with a household’s regular refuse and recycling pick-up day. Program participants are reminded to have their Green Cart out for pick-up no later than 6 a.m. on their scheduled pick-up day and to only use compostable plastic bags or kraft paper bags as bin liners. Participants are also encouraged to rinse their Green Cart out regularly to avoid compost residues or odors. A refresher on composting and what organic materials are and are not accepted by the City of Brandon’s Green Cart Program can be found here.

The City of Brandon Sanitation Section continues to accept participant registrations for the 2017 Green Cart Program. Residents are encouraged to register online at http://www.brandon.ca/sanitation/collection/green-cart-program/green-cart-program-signup. If you have any questions regarding the Green Cart Program, please send an email to greencart@brandon.ca or call the City of Brandon’s Sanitation Section directly at 204-729-2281.

As always, the public can also access any one of the City’s compost drop-off depots listed here or can take their Green Cart directly to the Eastview Landfill. Summer hours at the Eastview Landfill are now in effect and can be found at http://www.brandon.ca/sanitation/landfill/landfill-overview.

Finally, the City of Brandon’s Sanitation Section staff would like to remind all residents that as they undertake spring cleaning, all pet droppings should be double-bagged and placed into the appropriate refuse bins ONLY and not in their green bins.
