Brandon’s Power Smart Waterfall of Lights Shines Bright Beginning Tonight

December 4, 2015

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – Beginning tonight, Brandon’s Power Smart Waterfall of Lights display will be shining bright for the 2015-2016 winter season.

The dazzling display of holiday lighting is located immediately west of the City of Brandon’s Community Services Complex on McGregor Avenue. As of this evening, the display will be turned on and remain lit from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly through the winter season. NO public vehicles are allowed in the direct area of the Power Smart Waterfall of Lights display. The public is encouraged to park in designated areas on McGregor Avenue or Hilton Avenue and walk through the area to view the lights. The City of Brandon Community Services Department asks all members of the public to enjoy the lighting displays at a safe distance and to not walk in areas where power cords are present.

Meantime, preparation of the public skating oval in the area of the Power Smart Waterfall of Lights has been postponed until sustained colder temperatures can allow for it. Until the oval is completed, the warming shacks and outdoor washroom facilities at the oval will remain closed to the public. In the absence of the outdoor skating oval, the public is encouraged head over to Brandon’s Community Sportsplex, located at 30 Knowlton Drive, and strap on their skates for indoor fun.

Christmas lighting in Sir Winston Churchill Park will also be turned on this evening, though the warming shack at Hanbury Hill will not be open for public use until there is an adequate, safe amount of snow cover on the sledding hill.  The City of Brandon’s Community Services Department also encourages the public to get out and enjoy the festive lighting displays that have been placed in Princess Park and along many of the streets in the Downtown HUB.
