Brandon, MB – For the next few weeks, Brandon Transit’s motto is changing: “Give a little, get a free ride!”

During these dates, the regular cash fare to ride the bus will be waived for any customer donating a non-perishable food item or new, unwrapped toy. Brandon Transit employees will also be accepting donations of unwrapped toys or non-perishable food items, as well as monetary contributions, at the below sponsored locations on the following dates:

  • Canada Safeway in the Corral Centre – Saturday, November 21st from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Sobey’s West – Saturday, November 28th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Canada Safeway in the Corral Centre – Saturday, December 5th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For convenience, pre-made donation packages of $5 or $10 are available for purchase at the Canada Safeway in the Corral Centre.

“Through the years, Brandon Transit’s ‘Fill the Bus’ campaign has become something that our ridership and the general public have really responded to and look forward,” notes the City of Brandon’s acting Manager of Transit Marty Farthing. “Last year, the campaign raised nearly 2,900 pounds of non-perishable food and toy donations for the Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer Registry, and we are confident that the public will remain in that spirit of giving through this year’s campaign.”

Brandon Transit’s annual “Fill The Bus” Campaign is generously supported this year by Canada Safeway, Sobey’s, Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1505, Off The Wall Signs, 96.1 BOB FM/101.1 The Farm, and 880 CKLQ/94.7 Star FM.
