Brandon Municipal Airport Expansion/Redevelopment Project Update

October 9, 2015

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon wishes to advise all travellers and visitors accessing the Brandon Municipal Airport that they may notice some changes to vehicle traffic and passenger flow in anticipation of commencement of the Brandon Municipal Airport Expansion / Redevelopment Project later this month.

Some readjustments have been made this week to the Brandon Municipal Airport parking lot area to allow the project contractor to prepare the site for construction. Specifically, a number of parking stalls have been eliminated on the eastern side of the terminal building, but have been relocated to the south end of the parking lot to ensure no net loss of free on-site parking facilities.

In late-October, a temporary arrivals structure on the west side of the existing terminal building will be implemented to allow for the start of construction on a new arrivals hall in the terminal building. Once in place, passengers de-boarding aircraft at the Brandon Municipal Airport will be required to access this temporary arrivals structure to gather their checked luggage prior to leaving the airport facility. This process is anticipated to be in place until the summer of 2016, at which time completion of the new arrivals hall is anticipated. Passenger flow relating to departing flight check-in, security screening, and departure boarding will not be affected by this process.
