City of Brandon Street Sweeping Program Set to Start

April 22, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City of Brandon’s Streets and Roads Department would like to advise the public that its spring sweeping program to clean streets and boulevards of winter debris will begin next week. Beginning on the evening of Sunday, April 24th, major collector and arterial routes will be cleaned as follows:

Sunday, April 24th (overnight)– 6th Street, from Richmond Avenue north to Victoria Avenue

Monday, April 25th – 10th Street, from Richmond Avenue north to Victoria Avenue

Tuesday, April 26th – 13th Street, from Richmond Avenue north to Victoria Avenue

Wednesday, April 27th – Park Avenue, from 1st Street west to 26th Street

Thursday, April 28th – 13th Street, from Victoria Avenue north to Pacific Avenue; Pacific Avenue, from 1st Street west to 18th Street

Street sweeping in residential areas will be scheduled and communicated once the above routes have been completed.

In all areas, temporary “No Parking” signage will be in place by 4 p.m. on the day prior to sweeping. The public is asked to watch for signage and park off-street wherever possible. As per City of Brandon Traffic By-law No. 5463 (Part 3, Section 37), vehicles parked in these signed areas may be subject to a ticket and/or tow.

As well, crews will be sweeping winter sanding debris off of boulevards and City right-of-ways (the first few feet of lawn if there is no boulevard), so residents can minimize the potential for any property damage by clearly flagging any underground sprinkler systems that may be present.
