Brandon Municipal Airport Easter/Spring Break Travel Information

March 23, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brandon, MB – With passenger loads at extremely high volumes heading into the Easter long weekend and the spring break travel season, management and staff at the Brandon Municipal Airport are asking for the cooperation of all travellers to ensure smooth operations during the next several days of peak on-site activity.

An important reminder that security screening is in place for ALL departing flights and travellers should be arriving a minimum of 90 minutes prior to their scheduled departure to ensure adequate time to check in and be processed through the single security checkpoint with checked and carry-on luggage. WestJet adheres to a strict check-in cut off time of 45 minutes prior to departure. Travellers who arrive at the Brandon Municipal Airport after WestJet’s check-in cut off time will be denied access to their flight, without exception. More information about WestJet flights at the Brandon Municipal Airport, including the WestJet counter hours of operation, can be found here: http://airport.brandon.ca/traveller/westjet-info. You can also visit WestJet’s website, www.westjet.com, to check in online up to 24 hours before departure. This allows you to confirm your seat assignment, pay any excess baggage fees and receive your boarding pass prior to arriving at the airport check-in counter.

Travellers will also want to note that a temporary arrivals area remains in place during the ongoing redevelopment of the terminal building. A temporary trailer structure has been situated on the ground side of the current terminal building, just south of the airport facility’s control tower. As such, passengers exiting an arriving aircraft are required to walk through the facility’s covered glass hallway and then access the trailer structure on the other side of the building in order to retrieve any checked luggage prior to departing from the airport.

All those departing and arriving at the airport are also asked to observe that the area directly in front of the terminal building’s entrance is for passenger drop-off ONLY and CANNOT be used by parked vehicles waiting for travellers arriving on incoming flights. Individuals who are waiting for their arriving party to collect their checked luggage are asked to either park in the airport’s parking lot or along the side road to the south of the terminal building and walk over to meet their arriving party at the temporary arrivals area. Vehicles found to be parked in front of the terminal building or in other pre-designated parking spots, such as those for Nav Canada and Enterprise Rent-a-Car, will be ticketed and possibly towed, as per the City of Brandon’s Traffic By-law.
