Skating Oval and Hanbury Hill CLOSED due to weather
The City of Brandon’s Community Services Department has advised this morning that conditions at the both the Skating Oval just off of McGregor Avenue and at the Hanbury Hill toboggan hill just off Braecrest Drive have become dangerous due to the warm weather and associated melting. Many areas have now become slush, water or bare earth and pose a serious safety risk to the public.
As such, both recreation locations will be closed immediately until further notice.
Overhead oval lighting at the Skating Oval and flood lighting at Hanbury Hill will be turned off for the duration of the closure and warm-up shacks at both locations will not be open. Barricades and signage will be up at both locations for the duration of the closure. The public is cautioned that using either facility during the weather-related closure is at their own risk.
The City of Brandon will issue a notice as soon as conditions become favourable enough to re-open both locations.
