Councillor Bruce Luebke

A resident of Brandon for 30+ years, Councillor Luebke is currently employed in the corporate office of a financial institution that serves Brandon and Western Manitoba. 

Before starting a new career, Bruce spent 25 years as a broadcast journalist, including 23 seasons as the play-by-play voice of the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings. 

Councillor Luebke is involved in several community organizations, many of which are sports or recreation related. Bruce is a certified Level IV Softball Umpire and has officiated at several Softball Canada Championships. He has also obtained his Master Evaluator certification from Softball Canada. He has also organized and run several Softball Manitoba Championships over the years. 

Ward 6 is between 1st and 18th street, from Richmond to Victoria Avenue. It has a mix of residential, commercial, retail, and institutional properties. In addition, Ward 6 includes several landmarks in the City of Brandon – the Keystone Centre, Dome Building, Brandon Fire & Emergency Services Firehall No.2, the Brandon Police Service Building, Brandon Armoury, and the Agriculture Extension Centre. 

In addition to serving as Acting Deputy Mayor (2022-2023), Councillor Luebke is currently involved in the following committees, boards, and community organizations: 

  • Keystone Agricultural & Recreation Centre (Chair) 
  • Grants Review Committee (Chair) 
  • Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples’ Council (Executive Committee) 
  • Downtown Wellness & Safety Task Force 

 

Councillor Luebke looks forward to continuing to serve residents in Ward 6, including those in the Southeast corner that joined the Ward after the boundary shift prior to the 2022 municipal election.
